As Business Controller , you will support the Head of Business Controlling in analyzing and monitoring the business performance for one or more front line districts. Supports the business by supplying timely, accurate information to leaders to help support execution of business actions, monitors key metrics and proactively identifying solutions to improve business performance. Regularly reviews and ensures that activities are performed in accordance with the KONE Financial Control Model (FCM) and provides necessary analysis to ensure financial impacts are measured and reported following the KONE accounting standards and instructions.

Location of position: Lombard, IL (or surrounding areas), Nashville, TN (or surrounding areas). Hybrid structure requires 3-4 days onsite and open to accommodate 1-2 days remote.

JOB DUTIES

Analyze and report on the financial performance.

  • Ensure that key reporting principles, internal controls, and correct costing parameters as defined by IAS, General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), KARI, KAS and Financial Control Model (FCM) have been implemented and followed.

  • Ensure the correctness of managerial reporting including volume reporting (OR and sales), financial reporting (RE50 and R80), performance KPI’s (P2P pre vs. post calc., hours/floor), contract profitability.

  • Assure the correctness of managerial information (including order book, WIP, stock, provisions, accruals, etc.)

  • Monitor, track and verify project sales, costs and CMII in the Order Book

  • Analyze and understand the weekly/monthly actual performance of the business, as well as the deviations compared to planned (BUD /FCS) performance.

  • Generate accurate monthly closeout reports and projections for profits and losses through facilitation of the plan management (PM) meetings. Monitor, track, verify and update project costs and close projects within the guidelines of Close Out Policy

  • Coordinate, develop and manage financial accounting within the region to fulfil internal and external requirements consistent with company policy.

  • Provide analysis of key dependencies between the key operational processes, relationships, and metrics.

  • Promote and ensure adequate finance understanding in the business organization as a member of the business controlling team.

  • Provide actionable insights, key findings, and conclusions to business, not just numbers.

  • Assist in evaluating industry, economic, financial, and market trends to forecast the organization’s short, medium, and long-term financial and competitive position.

  • Provide general analysis that supports Business Lines, e.g., analyzing the opportunity funnel, and producing scenario analyses for versatile purposes (e.g., market demand vs. pricing in different scenarios).

Support the planning and forecasting processes.

  • Provide financial parameters for the planning and forecasting processes to support the sales and cost planning by the business (e.g., inflation rate, foreign exchange rates, increases in wages and salaries, costs for corporate materials, milestone lead times)

  • Validate and analyze the outcome and ensure a realistic level of figures.

  • Ensure that plans and forecasts are consolidated and reported in a timely manner and that deadlines are respected.

  • Support the development, implementation and attainment of an annual business plan, operating budget, and orders budget utilizing KONE business processes.

Other tasks:

  • Implementation, monitoring, and support of best business practices for billing and collection activities according to policies and procedures

  • Coordination, development and management of cash flow and credit/collections activity within the region

REQUIREMENTS

  • 7+ years' experience in finance or relevant experience to the role.

  • 3+ years of business controlling experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or relevant field.

  • Effective communication skills.

  • Proficient in use of Excel and databases (converting analytics and constructing PPT presentations)

  • SAP and Hyperion, or similar application knowledge is an advantage.
